Mr. Papanastassou explained that "the process is not only through letters that continues," adding that "the letters are for the sake of putting (the company) the legal framework and having a written position."
"Several processes have been carried out and more are being done in order to find a mutually acceptable solution," he underlined.
Replying to a relevant question, the Minister of Energy expressed confidence that there will be a positive conclusion to the whole issue.
Regarding the content of the discussions taking place between Chevron and the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Energy said that "the critical thing for us is the infrastructure and the crucial thing for the company is the investment", adding that the company "is trying to find a solution that is commonly accepted (win-win), taking into account these two that I mentioned above (infrastructure – investment)".
Asked whether the infrastructure concerns the floating unit, Papanastasiou said that this is "based on the 2019 plan, which also indicates a floating unit".
Finally, Mr. Papanastasiou pointed out the need to show patience and "not to push for information through the negotiation process, because anything that is said can disturb the negotiation itself."
"The essence is to achieve our goal," he concluded.
